WCPAAA News WCPAAA Annual Fundraiser - Saturday, April 17, 2010 The WCPAAA annual All You Can Eat Spaghetti and All You Can Eat Pizza Dinner on Saturday, April 17, 2010 was a great success. It was at Wa-Pa-Ghetti's Pizza on Old McHenry Road. The spaghetti dinner included spaghetti, salad and garlic bread and pop. The all you can eat pizza dinner, which was been added this year, included pop and pizza. Dessert was the fabulous cookies from Sam at Market Square Restaurant. There were also raffles and Officer Scott Laverd of the Police Department Crime Prevention Unit was at our event from 3pm-5pm. Thanks to all who came. About the WCPAAA Wheeling Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association The Wheeling Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (WCPAAA) consists of graduates of the Wheeling Citizens’ Police Academy. This program was designed by the Wheeling Police Department to provide Wheeling, Illinois residents, in a classroom setting, with first-hand information about how the police department works. The program increases understanding between citizens and the police through education, acquainting citizens with law enforcement’s role in the criminal justice system, and providing increased understanding of the tasks police officers face in their daily work. With better understanding, it becomes easier for police and citizens to find realistic solutions to neighborhood problems. WCPAAA affiliations Wheeling Citizens Police Academy The Academy is open to all residents of Wheeling over the age of eighteen and affords them an inside look at how their police department operates. The course runs for ten consecutive weeks, one night a week from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and culminates with a graduation ceremony. Illinois Citizens Police Academy Association The ICPAA, an Illinois not-for profit corporation, is committed to serving law enforcement and the general public by promoting and advancing the Citizens Police Academy concept in Illinois. National Citizens Police Academy Association The NCPAA promotes the professional development of information, instruction, guidance, and assistance to public safety agencies and citizens involved or interested in the Citizens Police Academy concept. |
